Meet Shirley Chen, L.Ac, MAOM

Shirley Chen is a Washington and California licensed acupuncturist as well as nationally certified medicinal herbalist. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier, CA - graduated as the Valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude, Dean’s List. Due to her outstanding herbal knowledge, technical skills, and patient care, she became the recipient of both Herbology as well as Clinical (“Hua Tuo”) Awards.

Shirley also received her extensive training from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taoyuan, Taiwan and was taught by various world-class acupuncturists and master herbalists such as Dr. Zhang Bu Tao (張步桃), Dr. Zhang Heng Hong (張恆鴻), & Dr. Gao Yi Fan (高依帆). Dr. Zhang Bu Tao (more than 40 years of experience) has numerous students shadowing him while he is treating 200 patients in 2 hours using Chinese Herbs; he was also featured on several TV shows in Taiwan; one of his many successes includes helping a leukemia patient get pregnant. Dr. Zhang Heng Hong (more than 30 years of experience) is the Dean of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital who specializes in Internal Medicine and sees more than 170 patients a day through Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. Dr. Gao Yi Fan (more than 25 years of experience) specializes in Gynecology and treats more than 80 patients in about 3 hours with Chinese Herbs.

In her previous work as an acupuncturist, Shirley treated about 100 patients a week with success. The knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine and skills that Shirley had learned from her brilliant mentors have inspired her to reach out and help others achieve their optimal health.
